Every answer AI gives about your brand is checked against what is true about it. Knowledge is where that truth lives: the sources brandflare has read, and the facts it found in them. It is in Brand Settings, on the Knowledge tab, which is marked Beta: it is safe to use and still being improved, and a banner at the top of the tab has links to report a problem or suggest an improvement.
The more of your own material brandflare has read, the more it can catch. A fact sheet that knows your current price list catches an answer quoting last year's price; one that doesn't can only go on what was found by research.
What you can add
One box takes all three:
- A link. Paste the address of a page: your pricing page, a product page, a help article, a press release. A link to a PDF works too.
- A file. Drop it on the box or choose Upload a file. PDF, Word (.docx) and text files. The first 50 pages of a file are read. Scanned pages with no text in them can't be read.
- What you know. Write a few facts in your own words, one per line, and they go on the sheet as you wrote them. Paste something longer, such as a boilerplate or a briefing, and it is read like a file.
Reading takes a minute or two. You can leave the page; the facts are there when you come back.
Your website
brandflare reads your brand's own website without being asked: the home page and about fourteen more, chosen for what they say about the company, its products, its prices and its policies. So the tab has facts in it before you add anything. If a brand is asked about in one country, that country's pages are preferred.
Some sites can't be read this way, because they are drawn entirely by scripts or turn automated readers away. The source says so when that happens. Add the pages that matter as links, files or text instead.
Sources
Each thing you add is a source, listed beside the add box with how many facts it gave and when it was last read. A brand can have up to five, its website included. A source stays until you delete it. A file you upload is kept with it: select its name to open it again, the same way a link's name opens its page.
- Read again (the arrow) reads a page or file afresh, for when it has changed. Facts already on the sheet are not added twice, and a fact whose passage has gone from the page is replaced by what the page says in its place. Typed text has nothing to read again, so it has no arrow.
- Delete (the bin) takes the source away, and its facts with it. You are asked first. Deleting your website also stops brandflare reading it unasked.
A source that couldn't be read says why, in plain words, and the arrow tries it again. A file longer than 50 pages is read to its fiftieth page, and the source says how many were left out.
There are limits on how much can be read: 300 pages a day and 2,000 pages in any 30 days across a workspace, where a page is about 3,000 characters and a website counts as 30. They are set well above ordinary use, since a brand's website and four documents are read once. If you reach one, the source says so and can be read again when the limit has passed.
What we know about your brand
The facts are under What we know about your brand, a page of ten at a time. The tabs are topics, the same ones as your claims to review, each with its count, and Contradicted by AI gathers the facts that answers are getting wrong. Search looks through every fact, its passage and its source, so a source's name finds everything read from it.
Each fact says where it came from:
- a fact read from a source shows the source, and Show passage opens the passage that says it, word for word. A fact is only kept when its passage is found in the source, so nothing on the sheet from your sources is the reader's guess;
- Written by your team, for what someone typed;
- Found by research, for what brandflare found when the brand was set up.
There is nothing to approve. A fact counts from the moment it is read. If one is wrong, remove it with the cross beside it; it won't come back when the source is read again, and removed facts can be put back from the link under the list. Each fact also shows how many answers contradict it, which is a quick way to find what AI most often gets wrong.
Answers are checked against up to 300 facts for a brand. If your sources hold more, the rest wait, taken evenly from each source, and the tab says how many are waiting. Removing facts you don't need lets them on.
When sources disagree
The one thing you are asked to settle is a disagreement. When a fact that has just been read can't be true at the same time as one already on the sheet, such as two prices for the same plan, the pair is shown together under Sources that disagree, each with its passage. Choose Keep this one for the right one, or Both are true if they are about different things. Until you do, answers are checked against both.
Proof on a claim
When AI says something that one of these facts contradicts, the claim in Answer Accuracy shows the fact, the passage from your source, and a link to it. That is what makes a correction easy to act on: what AI said, what your own page says, side by side.
More than one market
A brand has one knowledge base, shared by every market it is asked about. When a price or a product differs by country, add each country's page: facts read from a page for one country say which country they are about.
Who can use it
Reading your website, links, files and longer text is part of Plus, Pro and Agency, once the plan is paid for (plans and limits). On every plan you can write facts by hand and remove ones that are wrong. Editors, admins and owners can change the knowledge base; viewers can read it.
