flydubai (legally Dubai Aviation Corporation) is a Dubai government-owned low-cost airline founded on 19 March 2008 that began operations on 1 June 2009 from its hub at Dubai International Airport. Owned through the Investment Corporation of Dubai and chaired by Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, it is led by CEO Ghaith Al Ghaith and operates a single-type fleet of Boeing 737s (737-800, 737 MAX 8 and MAX 9) serving more than 135 destinations across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Europe. It sells unbundled Economy fares (Lite, Value and Flex) alongside a Business Class cabin, making it a hybrid low-cost/full-service carrier. Although not part of the Emirates Group, flydubai runs one of the industry's most integrated partnerships with Emirates, sharing the Emirates Skywards loyalty programme and a combined network of 245 destinations in 103 countries. It reported record 2024 results with AED 12.8bn revenue and 15.4 million passengers carried, and has 30 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners on order for delivery from late 2027.
